More Firefox extensions

xMirror v0.1.1 available from Meatme adds 3 extensions mirrors to the Firefox extension dialog.

User Agent Switcher gives the user the ability to change the User Agent string (the string that identifies your browser to the web server at the other end of the pipe) between the default of Firefox, IE, Opera and Netscape. You can edit the existing User Agent strings as well as add and delete strings. The page listed also shows you what your User Agent string is.

DRM a conduit for Spyware

This article from Desktop Pipeline gives an overview of how Digital Rights Management is being used by some to turn the download of a digital license into a spyware download.

I don't want to sound like gloom and doom but it's not safe out there. You have to make sure you know what you're downloading, and from where. And it's getting more and more difficult to do so.

Sun revokes FreeBSD's Java license?

Reported in BetaNews, the article (link here) says that Sun has revoked FreeBSD's Java license, preventing them from shipping Java support in their operating system.

Sounds like Scott's been taking lessons from his most hated rival and is actually outdoing him!
